Instron 5865

Instron 5865

The Instron 5865 measures the stress-strain behavior of materials, primarily in tension, although compression tests are also possible. The deformation rate can be varied over five orders of magnitude. Deformation is achieved using a screw-driven crosshead, particularly suitable for polymeric materials. Tensile/compression loads cells covering the load range of 0.4 N to 1 kN are available. Instron Bluehill software acts as the user interface and allows the user to program complicated tensile testing routines. Determination of material parameters, such as Young’s modulus and yield stress, is performed via the Bluehill software or home-written analysis software. An Instron 3111 temperature-controlled chamber is also mounted on the frame and allows for measurements over the range of -70 to +200 ºC.
